Campaign for Bhubaneswar District: Hundreds of writers, poets, and intellectuals participate

Bhubaneswar(12/10/2025): As part of the Bhubaneswar District Campaign, a signature collection event was held on Sunday at the Kedar Nath Gabeshana Pratisthana in Bhubaneswar, where hundreds of writers, poets, authors, and intellectuals participated. The event was coordinated by Lingaraj Sahu, the chief of the Bhubaneswar District Campaign.
Chief advisor of the campaign, former Khordha District Collector, and chairman of the Kedar Nath Research Institute, Raghunath Mishra, attended the event and stated that Bhubaneswar has all the necessary facilities to be declared a separate district.
He emphasized that, considering its population and its status as the state capital, the process should be completed soon. Noted poet Tanaya Das Goswami, writers Dr.Debasish Mahapatra, Prof.Sarat Rath, Dr.Vivekananda Panigrahi, Nirmal Kumar Mahapatra, Manmatha Satapathy, High Court lawyer Saroj Kumar Sahu, Dr.Arun Kumar Nayak, and many senior scholars, poets, writers, and citizens were present.
All participants unanimously agreed that Bhubaneswar deserves to be recognized as a separate district. Members and representatives from various Puja Committees of Jayadev, Ekamra, Bhubaneswar Central, and Bhubaneswar North constituencies also took part and signed in support of the campaign. For the past two years, under the banner of Milita Mahamanch, villagers from Bhubaneswar outskirts—including Balipatna, Balianta, and Nakhara—as well as members of Bhubaneswar Court have been collecting signatures in support of the cause. It was decided that the collected signatures will soon be submitted to the government for consideration.
