
Commissionerate Police cracks down on use of loud horns in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar(23/10/2025): In a bid to tackle rising noise pollution and promote road discipline, the Commissionerate Police has launched a crackdown on vehicles using loud or modified horns in Bhubaneswar. Despite earlier warnings, several buses, trucks, and two-wheelers continued violating noise control norms.As a result, police teams were deployed at major junctions including Vani Vihar Square to check vehicles and impose fines on offenders. A senior police officer said, āUnder the Odisha Urban Police Act, a fine of Rs 500 will be imposed for using loud horns.Repeat violators will face stricter action, including suspension of driving licences.The government is also considering steps to blacklist habitual offenders to effectively control noise pollutionā.
