
36-hour curfew imposed in parts of Cuttack
Cuttack (05/10/2025): The Commissionerate Police h on Sunday imposed a 36-hour curfew in parts of Cuttack following recent disturbances. Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh warned that no leniency will be shown towards the miscreants, and strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in violence. The curfew starting from 10 PM in will cover Purighat, Darghabazar, Bidanasi, Lalbag, Markatnagar, CDA Phase II, Mangalabag, Cantonment, Malgodown, Badambadi, Jagatpur, 42 Mauza and Sadar police station jurisdictions. The restriction has been imposed to prevent any escalation of tension following a group clash that broke out during Goddess Durga idol immersion procession.A scuffle out between police and protestors on Sunday after the membets of Vishwa Hindu Parishad took out a demonstration ahead of their bandh call scheduled on October 6.The protestors pelted stones on police personnel.To disperse the agitators, the cops resorted to lathicharge.
