Bhubaneswar(27/02/2019): The first council meeting of the newly elected CII Odisha State Council members was held on Wednesday.
Director-HR,Indian Oil Corporation Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra has been elected as the Chairman of CII Odisha State Council for the year 2019-20.
Mohapatra’s name was announced at the first meeting of the reconstituted CII Odisha State Council held in Bhubaneswar today coinciding with the annual meeting of CII Odisha State Council 2018-19.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohapatra said, “I look forward to working closely with all stakeholders in order to expedite investment process and thereby facilitating further development of the state.
I will also endeavor to access CII’s organizational experience and network in my bid to ensure success of the state of Odisha as a premier investment destination.”
During the annual meet preceding the council meeting, a session was held on “Net Zero Mining”:“Future Ahead” theme.
The speakers talked about:The transition from the current economy to a Net–Zero emissions economy.
Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited Sashi Sekhar Mohanty talked about some of the drivers that are behind this transition and provided some insights into what these risks and opportunities are from an Australian mining context.
Chairman, SNM Group Pradipta Mohanty said, “If we want to ensure a sustainable future for the human race, we must learn to prevent, minimize reuse and recycle the waste.”
On the occasion, chairperson of CII Eastern Region Jaggi Manat Panda congratulated CII and the new office bearers and wish them an eventful year ahead.
Members urged CII to help MSMEs in mentoring them to take to next the level.
The technical session was moderated by Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra.
The panelists were CEO-India Mining Operations, Essel Mining Industries Limited Ashik Kumar Bal, Pradipta Mohanty,Sashi Sekhar Mohanty, Director Production,NALCO.V.Balasubramanyam, Senior Vice President-Projects,JSW N D Rao, Executive Director and Head,CII Green Business Centre K S Venkatgiri, Director- Mining and Metal, IGH-Strategy and Operation,KPMG Advisory Services Private Limited Bidyut Charkraborty, Managing Director,Brahmani River Pellets Limited Ashwini Vaishnav, Unit Head-Tensa,Jindal Steel and Power Limited Pramod K Partra.
Award for environment, safety and health was presented to Infosys, NALCO, Aditya Alumina Refinery and Tata Steel.
Similarly, the quality circle convention award was conferred to JSL, NALCO, Tata Steel and NTPC (Kaniha).
