Lady traffic constable Shubhamitra murder case categorized as "Red Flag" Case

Bhubaneswar(19/09/2025): The murder of lady traffic constable Shubhamitra Sahoo has been officially categorized as a "Red Flag" case. The suspicious death of the prime accused Deepak Rout’s first wife, along with the murder of Shubhamitra, has raised serious concerns. The Crime Branch will now conduct the investigation of the two cases under direct supervision of the Director General of Police. The Commissionerate Police will be assisted by the Crime Branch in the investigation. Both the CAW (Crime Against Women) and CW (Cyber Wing) units will monitor the case closely. Deepak Rout allegedly strangled Shubhamitra to death in his car and transported her body about 170 km to Keonjhar to bury it. The motive behind Sahoo's murder appears to be a financial dispute with her husband.
