People with COVID symptoms advised to avoid crowds during Rath Yatra: Health Minister

Puri(09/06/2025): Ahead of the world famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Monday advised the people with COVID-19 symptoms to avoid crowds during the festival. During the second Rath Yatra Coordination Committee Meeting, the Minister said, "There is no major concern over COVID-19 as a low variant strain has been detected.As many as 300 doctors will be deployed to provide healthcare services during Rath Yatra." Use of masks is suggested, but not mandatory, Mahaling added. The state has so far reported 49 COVID cases (15 recoveries and 34 active). According to Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Rath Yatra will be conducted smoothly as 80 percent work has already been completed.
