Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar raises awareness on liver health with mega screening & health talks

Bhubaneswar(19/04/2025): On the occasion of World Liver Day, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar organized a free Mega Liver Health Screening Camp and Health Talk Session at the Maha Budha Society of India, Madhusudan Marg, UNIT-9, Bhubaneswar.
The session was attended by over 250 people.
The event was graced by Dr Rajaram Satapathy-Senior Journalist, Former Orissa bureau chief of The Times of India, Bhubaneswar and Dr.Saktimaya Mohapatra, Director of Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar, in the presence of the hospital’s entire gastroenterology team, including Dr.Pratap Behera, Senior Consultant Medical Gastroenterology; Dr.Gyana Ranjan Rout, Consultant Medical Gastroenterology; and Dr.Jyotirmay Jena, Consultant – GI & HPB Surgery, Manipal Hospital Bhubaneswar. On this occasion, Dr.Rajaram Satapathy stated, “In an age where lifestyle-related ailments are on the rise, awareness is the first step toward prevention.
Manipal Hospitals has taken a commendable step in bringing expert care and vital information directly to the community.
Public participation in such health camps is crucial for building a healthier Odisha.” The camp was held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and included free liver function screenings along with three informative sessions led by Dr.Pratap Behera, Dr.Gyana Ranjan Rout, and Dr.Jyotirmay Jena.
The sessions focused on raising awareness about liver-related ailments, many of which show no symptoms until they reach an advanced stage.
The doctors highlighted the importance of regular screenings, especially for those at higher risk due to factors like alcohol consumption, obesity, diabetes, or a family history of liver disease.
The aim was to encourage early detection and promote proactive care to prevent serious liver conditions. Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Dr.Saktimaya Mohapatra added, "This initiative reflects our commitment to not just treating but also educating and empowering our community.
Liver diseases are often silent killers, and through this camp, we aimed to bring timely awareness and free access to expert care.
We are proud to see such strong participation, which reinforces our role not just as a healthcare provider, but as a health partner to the people of Odisha”. Dr.Pratap Behera added, "Our goal with this camp is to encourage people to take charge of their liver health before it’s too late.
