No firecrackers during Puri Chandan Yatra: SJTA

Puri(19/04/2025): The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has imposed a ban on use of firecrackers during the annual Chandan Yatra in Puri.The announcement was made after the Chhattisa Nijog meeting convened in Puri to discuss the strategies prepared for ensuring the safety of devotees and servitors during the Chandan Yatra. The SJTA has also decided to provide health insurance to both devotees and servitors involved in the Yatra.This was informed by Chief Administrator of SJTA Arabinda Padhee. Two first aid centres will be set up at the outskirts of the Narendra Puskarini, the sacred pond integral to the annual festival. Last year, more than 15 people lost their lives and 30 sustained injuries due to firecracker explosion during the festival.
