Enrollment drive held for city slum children

Bhubaneswar (11/04/2025): Aiming to identify the dropout children, child labour, domestic child labour and rag picker from urban slum pockets of Bhubaneswar city and enrol them in government school on the occasion of Prabesh Utsav an enrollment drive (Nama Lekha Sachetanata Abhiyan) was conducted at Sikharchandi Nagar under ward no-2 and Pathrabandha slum under ward no-17 of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation.
The programme was organised by ActionAid Association in collaboration with Centre for Child & Women Development (CCWD), Government Primary School Second Postal Colony and Government Primary School Sikharachandi Nagar.
Various slogans like - (“Dhara Silata – Dhara Khadi”) (“Chala Jiba- Patha Padhi”), (“Sisu Ra Bikash”- Desa Ra Bikash “) were used to sensitise the slum dwellers and to enroll their children in schools.
Head-Mistress of Government Primary School Second Postal Colony Sailaprava Panda, Teacher Majulata Behera, Jyoti Prakash Paikaray and Satya Ranjan Behera as well as Head Mistress of Government Primary School Sikharachandi Nagar Mamuni Nayak, Teacher Arati Das, Sabita Mohanty and Ranjulata Tripathy joined in this occasion.
The programme was coordinated by kalyani Rout, Soumya Ranjan Das, Saraswati Parida, Sucharita Behera, Shiba Sahoo, Renubala Sahoo, Smrutirekha Das, Bishnupriya Samal, Snigdha Das and Bhaskar Chandra Pradhan.
