Odia translation ‘Ashara Aloka’ of Goa Governor’s book of short stories unveiled

Bhubaneswar(28/11/2024) : The Raj Bhavan, Odisha, hosted a literary milestone on Thursday with the release of Ashara Aloka, an Odia translation of a remarkable book of Malayalam short stories authored by the Governor of Goa.
The event was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha Raghubar Das and Governor of Goa P.S.Sreedharan Pillai along with First Lady of Goa Reeta Sreedharan Pillai who shared the stage to celebrate this significant occasion. Governor Raghubar Das released the book ‘Ashara Aloka’ and presented the first copy of the book to Jnanpith Awardee Padma Bhushan Dr.Pratibha Ray, an eminent author and one of Odisha’s most revered literary personalities. Speaking at the event, the Governor of Odisha lauded the literary contribution of the Governor of Goa, highlighting the book’s profound reflections and its potential to inspire readers across the nation.
The Governor underscored the importance of literary diversity in enriching society, stating, books like Ashara Aloka exemplify how the confluence of different cultures and languages strengthens the foundation of our shared humanity. In his address, Governor of Goa shared insights into his literary journey and the essence of Ashara Aloka.
He emphasized the book's themes of hope and resilience, which resonate universally. Jnanpith Awardee Padma Bhushan Dr.Pratibha Ray, upon receiving the first copy, praised the book for its ability to connect readers across cultural and linguistic divides, reaffirming the transformative power of literature. The event featured a thoughtful review of the book by Prof.
Jatin Nayak.
He provided deep insights into its thematic richness and literary merit.
In his review, he emphasized how ‘Ashara Aloka’ embodies the diversity of Indian literature, showcasing its ability to transcend regional boundaries and resonate universally. The translator of the book Dr.Nairanjan Sahu extended a warm welcome to the distinguished gathering, setting the tone for the event and highlighting the collaborative spirit that gives importance to the translation and dissemination of literary works across languages.
On behalf of Vidyapuri Publication Jivananda Mishra gave the vote of thanks. The event was graced by First Lady of Goa Reeta Sreedharan Pillai.
Chief Advisor to Governor Santosh Kumar Satpathy, eminent literary figures and dignitaries and Malayalam speaking communities staying in Odisha also attended the function.
