Weeklong PECUC Sisumela concludes on colourful note

Bhubaneswar(20/11/2020): The weeklong 31st children’s festival on virtual platform of People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), a leading voluntary organization of Odisha has reached its closing day adding another glorious chapter to the history of PECUC Sisumela.
Many talented children from Odisha and from other states participated and showed their talent in this children festival.
Addressing the closing ceremony, chief guest Justice Birakishor Mishra, former Justice of Orissa High Court, said that children should dream big and also should work towards achieving the same.
Saumya Ranjan Pattnaik, Editor, The Sambad, former Parliamentarian and present MLA advised the children to remain grateful to their parents and to take care of them in the old age and the parents also should consider their child’s interest.
He further said that the children should be courageous and truthful in all their action.
Popular Ollywood actress Anu Chaudhury was also present on this occasion and said that children should be nurtured properly for their all round development.
Sulochana Das, commissioner for persons with disability said, “In this stressful COVID-19 situation, the children should be kept safe.
Their parents and guardians should encourage them to develop their inner talent. Sahadev Sahoo, former chief secretary, Odisha laid emphasis on the safety of the children during this pandemic situation.
This programme was presided over by President, Sisumela Committee and renowned journalist Prodosh Kumar Pattnaik and Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, PECUC gave the introductory note.
Dr.Minakhi Panda, chairperson PECUC also spoke on this occasion.
Vote of thanks was given by Anuradha Mohanty, executive director PECUC. In this weeklong children festival, talks on different relevant subjects were given by various experts like doctor Sarojini Sarangi, Gynecologist, doctor Swaroop Mohanty, dentist and Madhumita Das, Consultant Women and Child Development, Odisha. On this occasion, children and adult personalities were honoured with many prestigious annual awards for outstanding performance in different fields.
Child artist Ayusha Pattnaik of Khordha received “Dr.
Sarat Chandra Pujari Memorial Award 2020” for acting, while Adarsha Das of Bhubaneswar got “Prafulla Chandra Das Memorial Sisu Prativa Award 2020” for all round achievement, Purnima Giri of Kendrapada bagged the “Baji Rout Memorial Award 2020” for bravery and courageous activity.
Similarly, Lorismita Dalai of Phulnakhara was conferred with the “Prananath Pattnaik Memorial Award 2020” for social work.
Change maker and leader Chanchala Pujari of Koraput was honoured with the “Adaramoni Boral Memorial Award 2020” for her leadership.
Senior journalist Papu Mohanty was honoured with prestigious “Swarup Jena Memorial Award 2020” for his outstanding contribution in the field of journalism, where as “Abani Baral Memorial Award 2020” went to retired teacher Kalicharan Jaysingh for his contribution in the field of teaching.
“Sisusathi Award 2020” was presented to Rajani Ranjan Dash for outstanding contribution in the field of children litreture, “Dr PC Dash Memorial Sisu Adhikar Surakshya Award 2020” to Sneha Mishra for social work.
Besides, Jayashree Nayak, Sarapanch of Bhingarpur of Balianta block was given “Aradhana Nanda Smaraki Samman 2020” for her outstanding work as a people’s representative in the field of women and children & Sushree Shailani Suman received Best Volunteer Award for providing technological support during COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Every evening, colourful cultural programmes were performed by children of Odisha, Assam and Manipur.
During the festival, help and cooperation was provided by Rotary Club RCB Unique, Adoption Centrum, TDH[G], AEIN, Herbage Herbals, IMFA. Ratna Dash, Panu Behera, Dr.Sumitra Mohanty, Monalisa Patra, Jyoti Sankar Mohanty, Upama Mohanty, Dharmanada Sundarray, Dr.Mitali Mohanty, Satyasundar, Debasish, Atishnu, Biswajit, Pritam and Saswati of PECUC conducted the programme successfully. .
