Bhubaneswar (17/11/2020): A special musical night “Pilanka Akhaya” was organized on virtual platform as a tribute to the legendary singer, Lyricist & Music Director Late Akshaya Mohanty on Tuesday.In a unique way children paid homage to the Icon of Odia Music on his 18th death anniversary.Eminent Music Director & singer Laxmikant Palit, singer Bibhu Das & Bandita Das and senior artist Banchhanidhi Pattnaik, were the guest of the evening.They threw lights on the different aspects of the life of the legendary singer.Among other Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director, PECUC, Rotarian Dibya Ranjan Dash of Rotary Club of UNIQUE, journalist Madhabananda Behura also spoke and paid their homage to the legendary singer.Minakshi Panda, Chairman, PECUC presided over the ceremony.Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary PECUC announced the name of the winner of the Pilanka Akshaya Samman Award 2020.People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC) is giving this award to a singer below 18 years of age since year 2003.Singer of the young generation Smaranika Nayak honoured with prestigious ‘Pilanka Akshaya Samman 2020’.Children sang everlasting songs of Akshaya Mohanty like “Jajabar Mana Mora”, “Smruti Tume Shrabana”, “Sei Dipa Achhi”, “E jibane Mo Jibane”, “Chandra Mali Hase”, “Chithi Nuhein Seta”, “Nishi Bijane”, “Abhimanini E”, “Phur Kina Udigala”, “Are Laja Lage”, “Ei Je Bana Lata, Pahada” etc.The singers were Smaranika Nayak, Yash Mohanty, Akanshya Sahoo, Nirbisesh Sahoo, Lipsa Mishra, Tanishree Jena, Rudramadhab Mandal, Shouryasnata Mishra, Sidhishna Bindhani, Tanushree Jena, and Satwik Samparpan.The names of the winner of the song competition were announced.Today’s programme was organized by PECUC in joint collaboration with Rotary Club of UNIQUE, Bhubaneswar.Ratna Dash, Sushree Shailani Suman, Dharmanand Sundarray, Monalisa Patra and Debasis Mahapatra of PECUC conducted the programme..
