Bhubaneswar(21/12/2019): A district Level workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of Adolescent and Young Women was organized by People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC) in collaboration with Adoptions Centrum at DRDA conference hall, Khordha on Saturday.
More than 80 participants including adolescent group members, young women group members, Govt.
officials and media personnel participated in this workshop.
Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director of PECUC, welcomed the guests and also shared the purpose of this workshop.
She also said that PECUC is working in this field and generating awareness among adolescents and young women on their education, life skill education reproductive rights, etc.
Adaramani Baral, Chairman, PECUC chaired the session and Dr.Minakhi Panda, Director PECUC also spoke on the issues of adolescents and young women.
Ruby Rout, Country Director of Adoptionscentrum said that the problems of the adolescents will be solved with the help of both community and the government.
On the occasion, chief guest of this workshop Diganta Routray, Project Director, DRDA, Khordha inaugurated the workshop and said to overcome the challenges, NGOs and government department should work together.
He also emphasized on the life skill education of adolescents as they are prone to abuse in this phase of life.
Among others Manoj Naik, District Welfare Officer, Amriita Pattnaik, District Coordinator, Samagra Sikhya, Khordha, Dr.P.K.Mishra, District Public Health Communication Officer, Dr.Indira Rath, District Leprosy Officer, CDMO Office, Somendra Nayak, LPO, District Child Protection Unit were present in this programme.
They spoke about the adolescent issues and also women reproductive health issues, schemes and programmes of the government.
The speakers also discussed on various issues relating to young women and adolescents like sexual and reproductive rights of women and adolescents, AIDs/HIVs, health services and schemes and programmes of government, domestic violence, health and sanitations for girls, family planning, birth spacing, nutritious food etc.
Family, community, civil society organisation, media and government all should work together for education and awareness.
